Privacy Policy
Scotwills is sensitive to protecting the private information
that our customers and visitors give to us. We also want you to have the opportunity
to obtain interesting and useful information, products and services through
Scotwills. The loyalty of our customers is very important to us and we hope
this policy will underscore our commitment to making sure your experience
with us is a good one.
This Privacy Policy describes how Scotwills treats information
about you when you become a Scotwills customer or when you provide information
to us through our Web Site. This policy is organized into the following
sections:
What We Collect
We collect only the information that you provide when completing your
Will or e-mailling us, all collected lawfully and in accordance with the
Data Protection Act 1998.
-
How We Use Customer Information
The customer information that we collect we retain in our customer
databases and it may be used:
-
to deliver service;
-
for billing purposes;
-
to examine system accounting logs and other company
records to resolve email and other system errors or problems;
-
to make sure that only Scotwills customers are
able to access certain member-only services.
This information is kept on limited access computers
and is only available to those employees who have a need to know.
-
We provide some information to companies that
we use to perform certain functions for us -- for example, credit
card numbers are sent to a credit card processing company for billing,
and address information may be given to a fulfillment company that
sends out our welcome kits. These companies are not authorized
to release this information to other third parties.
-
We use our customer database to distribute Scotwills
updates or important notices to our customers.
-
We also use customer information from time to
time to offer various products and services (some of which may
be provided by third parties) to our customers. This is only with
your permission. An option is given to accept this information
when you make your Will. If you do not want this information do
not tick the box!
-
Scotwills may also use customer information to
enforce our policies as described in the Scotwills terms and conditions,
but only to the extent necessary.
-
We will share customer information with governmental
authorities when legally required to do so, and may cooperate with
these authorities investigating claims of illegal activity such
as (but not limited to) illegal transfer or use of copyrighted
material, mail and wire fraud, or postings or email containing
threats of violence.
Changes to Scotwills Privacy Policy
We may make changes to this policy from time to time. We will post
changes to our Privacy Policy here, so be sure to check back periodically.
We may also decide to notify our customers by email of significant
changes.
Security
This Web site and that of our banker, Netbanx, to whom you are
re-directed for payment provide secure communications and have valid
certificates. Secure communication means that information you provide,
such as your name or credit-card number, is encrypted so that it can’t
be read or intercepted by other people. The certificates are statements
guaranteeing security. A certificate contains information that a specific
Web site is authentic. This ensures that no other site can assume the
identity of the original site. Our secure server uses 128-bit encryption

my Will Now" page, right click on the page and select 'Properties'
from the drop-down list. This will confirm the Certificate.
